The best way of using concrete paint and primer together
Using concrete paint and primer together doesn’t have to be challenging or require a technical degree. In a few easy to follow steps you are going to learn how to go about it for your own concrete painting job.
We’ve got a smooth concrete floor that you prepare by grinding it down with a standard, commonly rented floor grinder. Remove all the loose, flaking material and get it down to a nice, sound, solid concrete surface.
The next step after preparing the floor and vacuuming all the excess dust off is applying super primer which is a small particle size, highly elastic plastic and highly adhesive primer, which penetrates and bonds right through the concrete, giving a good solid bonding agent.
After that you add to the floor a top coat of concrete paint. Choose a smooth formula concrete paint or a non skid texture finish – for those areas where you need like non slip steps, walkways, safety walkways or loading docks. It creates a very rugged system when you use both super primer and the safety deck together, creating an unbeatable combination ready to take heavy traffic from metal, tires or forklifts. Any time you have an industrial application the concrete paint is tough, durable and easy to maintain, very easy to keep clean.
Concrete paint applied on top of the primer
On top of the dry coat of super primer apply the concrete paint. It is easy to use, just take the paint bucket, pour it and spread it – you don’t need to deep and roll. Pour it on the floor and spread it out using a standard 3’8” snap roller for concrete surfaces.
The concrete paint has very low odor, it is not toxic with no annoying fumes if you have kids in the household or elderly folks. Very DYI and environmentally friendly product and it handles great. Easy to distribute out evenly, not messy.

Now if you’ve got a really deteriorated concrete surface, super primer is what you need. That is a product with a very small particle size which penetrates into the concrete, stabilizes it, and stops it from further deterioration. Additionally, it will support 10 pounds of weight per square inch.
Once you have the primer laid out – which dries out rapidly in less than 20 minutes – apply the concrete paint over it. The concrete paint comes in tint able white with approximately 30 different colors, very thick, fully in suspension, ready to apply right after you open the can. It provides an epoxy like finish to the surface, very rugged, and easy to apply. Pour it out of the can straight on the floor and start spreading it slowly. You can spray, brush or roll it all over the floor. Spraying would give you a slightly smoother finish but rolling ends up with a very consistent finish. The concrete paint is formulated to easily bond and grip with the primer, emulsify together, forming a very durable, rugged surface.
It takes about 6 to 8 hours for the concrete paint to dry after which will be ready for duty in the factory, commercial business or any high traffic are like garages, floors and patios. It will be easy to maintain, mop, pressure wash, and drive commercial floor cleaners over it.
